Welcome back!
Mostly big corporations are downsizing these days due to the poor economy. One good example are the big automobile companies like Chrysler and GM have now claimed bankruptcy trying to save themselves. Most of the higher up executives are losing their jobs here and in many other businesses in America. These traditionally white collar jobs are becoming harder to not hang on to but to get these days. The more service oriented and physically trying blue collar jobs however are still sturdy in many companies and continue to hire. Many former workers that used to sit at a desk are now switching for jobs that are more physically demanding. After going through the required training to learn a new skill like roof repair, they are also made aware of the probable physical dangers of the job like fall protection and using industrial safety gates to make them safe while on the high roof of a home or building. Although it seems more dangerous, many of these former desk workers are liking being out in thethick of things and feeling like they are contributing each day.
Community colleges have expereinced a huge increase in enrollment not only to recent high school graduates due to the savings than a typical four year college but also to older Americans that are wanting to receive training or education in a new skill or a new career field. Health care jobs continue to expereince a shortagethese days. Many people are now going to nursing schools to find a new more stable career where available jobs are abundant. The othercareer field that seems to be increasing because of natural disasters over recentyears are tree companies and roofing specialists. Many hurricanes, tornadoes and large wind storms have wreaked havoc on several locations in America recentlyand that trend appears to be increasing. When a huge hurricane hit in Texas last September, the storm was so strong that it continued all the way up through mid western states like Ohio where hurricanes are highly unlikely. many claim this is due to global warming and the change inour climate and atmosphere. Whatever the reason, these storms have left areas in desperate need ofhelp following a storm. Tree companies were being notifed from various stateslast Fallfollowing that hurricane to help with all of the downed electrical lines and loss of power to millions of Americans. This is an example of one one such job that appears to need more people working in it. After realizing that need, more Americans are searching for the demand and job security and going to jobs such as the ones at a tree company. It is more risky physically but with the proper training and safety devices, the continual employment and job security is imperative to these new job applicants today. This is a true example of having lemons and making it into lemonade.
